The race: Georgia governor

Party affiliation: Republican

The lane:
Clark Dean is a Republican outsider that is running a data-driven campaign and is a classic business-first conservative.

The basics:
Dean is the founder of Transwestern’s Transaction Sciences Group. He also brands himself as a “principled conservative” aligned with Republican priorities on immigration enforcement and public safety.

Why he’s running:
Dean is offering a fresh alternative to Republican politics in Georgia. While he isn’t a billionaire like Rick Jackson or part of the establishment like the Georgia Attorney General, Chris Carr, or Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, Dean believes he can keep Georgia economically competitive while improving affordability and modernizing government.

What’s working:
Dean’s outsider status has him garnering support from disaffected Republicans no longer supporting President Donald J. Trump.

The challenge:
The lack of statewide name recognition is the main challenge for the campaign. The secondary challenge facing Dean is fundraising. As of the latest reports, Dean had raised just over $314,000 and held under $90,000 cash on hand.

What to watch:
Can the blending of conservative principles and collaborative AI-driven platforms to drive questions and chatter. It remains to be seen if promises of innovation will lead to votes in May 19th’s primary.
