Our Mission

PeachPol is a Georgia-focused political news and analysis platform covering the people, power and policies shaping the state.

Our goal is to help readers understand not just what happened, but why it matters.

We cover Georgia politics with an emphasis on:

  • accountability
  • context
  • political power
  • campaigns and elections
  • policy decisions
  • legislative dynamics
  • the communities affected by government action

PeachPol is independent, fact-based and committed to earning reader trust.

Our Editorial Independence

PeachPol’s editorial decisions are made by our editorial team.

Our coverage is not controlled by advertisers, subscribers, donors, campaigns, elected officials, political parties or outside organizations.

We may receive tips, story ideas, documents or background information from many sources, but final decisions about what we cover and how we cover it belong to PeachPol’s editorial leadership.

When a financial, business or personal relationship is relevant to a story, we will disclose it to readers.

Accuracy and Verification

Accuracy is our first responsibility.

Before publication, we work to verify names, titles, dates, quotes, documents, campaign finance figures, vote totals, policy descriptions and other factual information.

When we rely on public records, campaign finance filings, court documents, government data or other source material, we aim to describe the source clearly.

We use careful language when facts are developing or when records suggest a pattern but do not prove intent.

Fairness and Response

When PeachPol reports serious criticism, allegations or findings about a person, campaign, public official, organization or institution, we make reasonable efforts to seek a response before publication.

If we do not receive a response by deadline, we may note that in the story.

If a response arrives after publication and adds important information, we may update the story.

News, Analysis and Opinion

PeachPol publishes news, analysis and opinion. We work to make those categories clear to readers.

News

News stories are based on reporting, documents, interviews and verified facts.

Analysis

Analysis explains the political meaning of events, trends or data. Analysis may have a clear thesis, but it must be grounded in evidence and reporting.

Opinion

Opinion pieces and guest commentary express a point of view. They are labeled separately and do not necessarily reflect the views of PeachPol.

Anonymous Sources

PeachPol uses anonymous sources sparingly.

We may grant anonymity when information is newsworthy, the source has direct knowledge and the information cannot reasonably be obtained on the record.

We do not use anonymous sources for unsupported personal attacks or speculation.

When possible, we explain why anonymity was granted.

Conflicts of Interest

PeachPol requires staff, freelancers and contributors to disclose real or potential conflicts of interest.

These may include campaign work, political consulting, lobbying, paid advocacy, personal relationships, financial interests, donations, board service or other ties to people or organizations we cover.

Disclosure does not always prevent someone from contributing, but PeachPol may reassign, edit, add disclosure or decline work when a conflict could affect credibility.

Political Activity

Because PeachPol covers politics, our news reporters and editors are expected to avoid political activity that could compromise or appear to compromise their independence.

Opinion contributors may hold political views or affiliations, but relevant relationships should be disclosed when they write on related subjects.

Corrections and Updates

When we make a factual error, we will correct it promptly.

Material corrections will be noted on the story.

A correction may read:

Correction: A previous version of this story misstated [error]. The story has been updated.

When we add significant new information after publication, we may include an update note.

We do not quietly change material factual errors without acknowledgment.

Readers can request a correction by contacting: info@peachpol.com

Use of Artificial Intelligence

PeachPol may use artificial intelligence tools for limited support, such as organizing notes, summarizing documents for internal review, brainstorming headline options or cleaning transcripts.

AI does not replace reporting, editing, fact-checking or editorial judgment.

PeachPol does not knowingly publish AI-generated facts, quotes, sources or reporting. Any AI-assisted work must be reviewed and verified by a human editor.

When AI is materially used in the creation of published content, PeachPol will disclose that use when appropriate.

Plagiarism and Attribution

PeachPol does not tolerate plagiarism, fabrication or misrepresentation.

We credit other outlets when we rely on or build from their original reporting.

When PeachPol reports information first published elsewhere, we will attribute it clearly.

Source Relationships

PeachPol values strong sourcing, but sources do not control our coverage.

We do not allow sources to approve stories before publication or dictate framing.

In limited cases, we may confirm technical details or quote accuracy with a source, but final editorial decisions remain with PeachPol.

Gifts, Travel and Outside Influence

PeachPol staff and contributors should not accept gifts, travel, lodging, tickets or favors that could compromise independence or create the appearance of influence.

Any externally funded travel or special access relevant to a story should be approved by editorial leadership and disclosed when appropriate.

Campaign Finance, Polling and Data

PeachPol frequently reports on campaign finance filings, polling, voter data and public records.

When using data, we aim to explain:

  • where the data came from
  • what period it covers
  • what it does and does not show
  • relevant limitations

We distinguish between contributions, loans, self-funding, total raised, expenditures and cash on hand.

We do not treat a single poll or data point as definitive.

Sensitive Information and Privacy

PeachPol handles sensitive information carefully, especially when covering grief, medical issues, minors, victims, trauma, domestic violence, immigration status or private personal details.

We consider whether publication serves a clear public interest and whether unnecessary harm can be avoided.

We generally do not publish private addresses, personal phone numbers or other sensitive identifying information unless there is an overriding public interest.

Sponsored Content and Advertising

Sponsored content, advertising or paid partnerships must be clearly labeled and visually distinct from editorial content.

Advertisers and sponsors do not control PeachPol’s editorial coverage.

PeachPol will not knowingly publish sponsored content that misleads readers or conflicts with our credibility.

Letters to the Editor and Guest Commentary

PeachPol accepts Letters to the Editor and Guest Commentary as separate submission categories.

Letters are generally shorter reader responses. Guest commentary is longer opinion writing with a clear argument or perspective.

Submissions may be edited for clarity, grammar, style and length. Publication is not guaranteed.

Writers must provide their full name, hometown, contact information for verification and relevant affiliations.

Reader Trust

PeachPol’s credibility depends on transparency, accuracy and independence.

Before we publish, we ask:

  • Is this accurate?
  • Is this fair?
  • Is this clearly labeled?
  • Are we overclaiming?
  • Have we disclosed what readers need to know?
  • Does this serve the public interest?

We are building PeachPol to be a trusted home for Georgia political coverage that goes beyond the headlines.
